Disappointing hospitality. Disappointing Hospitality.
Unfortunately, the impression deteriorated significantly after that. The check-in took an unnecessarily long time and required filling out very detailed forms with the personal data of all guests, including the children.
The beds were also extremely uncomfortable. However, by far the worst part of our stay was how we were treated at breakfast. A staff member approached us while we were still sitting at breakfast and demanded that we leave immediately, as we were already “15 minutes late”. She did not smile a single time, seemed very serious during the entire conversation, and acted extremely brusque, unfriendly, and unwelcoming.
Such abrupt and unfriendly encounters can completely destroy a cheerful and relaxed vacation atmosphere. Hospitality means not just a nice room or good amenities, but also how you ensure that guests feel welcome and comfortable.
I have stayed in hundreds of hotels in many different countries and have never experienced a staff member addressing guests at breakfast in this manner. We were truly shocked, and this incident completely changed our overall impression of the hotel.
The hotel has a good location and spacious rooms, but the staff urgently needs training in hospitality, customer service, and simply basic manners.

The location was very good and the suite itself was spacious, so we were initially pleased with our stay.

A member of staff approached us while we were still eating and told us that we needed to leave immediately because we were already “15 minutes late”. She never smiled, looked extremely serious throughout the interaction, and her manner came across as abrupt, unfriendly and incredibly inhospitable.
Abrupt interactions like this can completely ruin the happy and relaxed atmosphere people hope to enjoy while on holiday. Hospitality is not only about the room or the facilities; it is also about how guests are made to feel.
I have stayed in hundreds of hotels in many different countries and have never experienced a member of staff speaking to guests like this over breakfast. It was genuinely shocking and completely changed our impression of the hotel.
The hotel has a good location and generously sized accommodation, but the staff urgently need training in hospitality, customer service and, quite simply, basic good manners.

A really picturesque hotel
The hotel is set within the Bavarian mountains so you have fairly beautiful views from nay location. Our room, 84, was set at the rear of the property so we did overlook a 'random' caravan and family home from our balcony which was a little odd, but we didn't feel that it impeded our use.
The room was a little smaller than others on the trip, for two people you'd maybe call it 'friendly', but the fact that the beds were separate was nice - and the room size meant you had a great view of the TV and of the views from the two windows/doors that our room contained. The bathroom was snug though, and perhaps was as clean as it could have been over the length of our stay - for example I used the shower one night, and you could tell the following night that it had been used previously. On arrival though it WAS all clean. The shower had good pressure and heated quickly which is all you really need from it. The room had charging by the beds which I really appreciated, and by the desk/TV - though storage for cases was somewhat limited.
As we were on the second floor and right at the end we generally heard very little noise, but one night during our stay there were some rogue children running up and down the corridor which could be easily heard. Luckily this did stop around 10PM.
Upon arrival we were automatically given two keycards which I really appreciated. There isn't much of an indoor seating area here, and what there is is hard and plastic, but you'd really want to sit outside in the restaurant/bar area for the views anyway. This did seem to be closed in the mornings, which is a shame as I imagine the sunrise would have been very pretty.
Staff here were mixed - around 5AM on our first morning there was a loud repeating siren - when asked at reception later that day what it was we were told it was nothing to do with the hotel and there was no siren - I got the impression that they thought we were blaming them, we weren't though - we genuinely wanted to know what the noise meant. When we asked the evening staff they were MUCH nicer, and said they thought it was an army thing. Obviously the hotel cannot help outside noises, but they can help their attitude. The evening staff made up for it though as they were LOVELY even under certain challenging circumstances when faced with less than polite guests. They speak good English, and have good comprehension - no matter what others claimed. On which note, I apologise again to the staff here for the attitudes of some of my fellow travellers - they were utterly out of line.
The main issue with this hotel was the food - the evening meals were pre-ordered but never right. One night everyone else had finished their main meals whilst mine, which had been forgotten, was being cooked! But the staff were SO apologetic and the food was (mostly) tasty so I could forgive them. Our evening drinks were not included in our tour costs, but they were some of the cheapest drinks on the trip - I think two glasses of Apfelschorle didn't even come to six euros!
I would certainly consider staying here again either as a solo traveller or if I saw this on another Leger itinerary.

A stop in the Bavarian Alps
Inside it has a small, but well-equipped, pool area with 3 saunas, and a good restaurant with beers from the Benedictine monastery of Ettal.
