How Mercure should be
We had a room on the rear side with opening window. It was really peaceful at night. Housekeeping standard was high, privilege room as usual is France had soft drinks in the fridge as well as bathrobe and slippers and iron/ ironing board. Nespresso coffee and tea facilities. There is water station by the lift. Walking in shower/ not bath.
It is 7 min walk to the main square and shopping streets. Monoprix with well stocked clothing and food section is very close to the hotel so you won’t carry your bottles for long. I also saw Leclerc outside of the centre. Arras is for one night, no more, unless you use it as a base to explore by nearby train.
Overall I can’t fault this Mercure and young people working there are nice.

Disappointed in Arras
However for the first time I have been very disappointed with a Mecure Hotel. My wife is handicapped and needs a rest in the afternoon. On two occasions n returning to the room we have found that it was not made up. I complained to the staff and they informed me that their policy is to make up the vacated rooms first and to do the other rooms last. Therefore I would say that this hotel is only worth staying for one night. I have travelled the world over the last 50 years and although occasionally I have experienced failure to make up the room this has never happened twice. Very Disappointed.

Hotel is nice but would not book it again
However, a few points somewhat dampened our stay. For a 4-star hotel, we would have expected at least basic German language skills from the staff. The underground garage seems quite dilapidated in parts and is also subject to a fee. Unfortunately, the view from our room was also not particularly nice. We also found it somewhat unusual that there was only one large blanket in the double bed instead of two individual blankets.
Overall a nice hotel with some weaknesses – therefore 3 out of 5 stars from us.

We are sorry to hear your experience dind't meet your expectations. Concerning the carpark, as it is a public carpark unfortunately it is not free. And concerning the language spoken from our staff, most of our co-workers speak both french and english. We take into account all your remarks concerning the duvet.
