Very good hotel
Very nice hotel, the location is very beautiful and right next to the beach.
The food was always very good. The staff is very friendly and the entertainment team from Remarc did a fantastic job with organising the sport activities. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Great Family Holiday
I don't write many reviews on Trip Advisor, but I wanted to do this one because I feel its important after we had read a few reviews on here before we had our family holiday to Fodele Beach and Water Park and I did have some concerns based on reviews we read. We visited late August as a family of 5 (my wife, myself and three boys aged 19,17 and 12). Firstly, I would like to say our overall experience was EXCELLENT. I wanted to share some specifics here just to address previous reviews we had read.
STAFF: The staff could not have been more helpful, hard working and dedicated to making the guests stay as positive as possible. We literally have no exceptions and can see these people - reception, concierge, hospitality, entertainment etc are all a credit to the hotel.
BUILDING NEXT DOOR: We had read the new hotel being constructed next door could be an issue with noise and dust. The good news is they have built a road away from the hotel so previous issues of trucks driving through the road next to the hotel are no longer there and honestly the noise was almost non existent. That said, our room was away from the site so staying closer may have more noise.
CLEANING: We read some bad experiences about this but we had no issues with a daily clean of our room and always a great job. It is important to leave the 'please clean my room' label on the door when you go out.
SUN BEDS: Another issue we had read about was the lack of availability of these. This is true, but its not as bad as people had said and its more a making of the guests 'marking' a sunbed at 7am with their towel then going back to bed for hours and keeping a towel on it for a long time even when not there. This is the main pool, but the lower pool (just downstairs) isn't as bad and there were always beds and chairs up at the top pool and along the (private) beach. We still managed nearly every day to get some time around the main pool with one or two beds.
DRINKS: Excellent. Branded drinks, cocktails, soft drinks and good beer! Never had to queue for more than a few minutes.
FOOD: Fantastic. There are several restaurants with the main one being the centre (Basilikos) a self service buffet with everything you could want - and more. Themed evenings and huge variety. For larger batch cooked food the quality was also excellent. There is a buffet snack bar opened all day with a range of foods as well. This is not just burgers and hot dogs but everything you need. And more good quality. In addition there is food available at the beach bar and the Windmill bar by the waterpark.
I do recommend trying the other restaurants (despite previous reviewers saying they weren't good). The Italian evening (downstairs) was a buffet similar to the main but focused on Italian food. We really enjoyed that. Then the the Beach BBQ was my boys favourite and was a unique and fantastic experience (if you like meat). The Greek restaurant upstairs on the top floor is another different experience, table service and upmarket meals with exceptional service - and food (my personal favourite).
THE HOTEL: Had so much to do! Waterpark, golf, tennis and basketball plus pools at the top of the hotel with a daily 'train' taking guests up the steep (but short) hill. The main pool with bar and terrace was the centre of things with music, pool games and sporadic entertainment from the staff. There is an excellent shop and car hire on site with everything you need - recommend the car hire too. The beach is private to Fodele guests and has a bar and large number of sunbeds and optional hiring of Cabanas. And watersports hire too. There was a sports area for football, volleyball ets on the beach and that was well used too. There was also a children's arcade that had pool and other games that were payable but not expensive and kept a lot of kids happy! I also want to give a shout to the ground staff (I think just one man) who also washes the hire cars - the entire resort was green with grass, trees, bushes and even fruit and vegetables growing and felt like a green oasis in the middle of a harsh summer and dry terrain outside of the grounds.
ROOMS: The rooms are nice, and clean but this is one area I dont think the hotel could be classed as 5 star (the only area). It feels like a lower grade hotel has been refurbished - nicely - but I wouldn't say luxury. that said, it is still nice and we had no complaints apart from noisy neighbours on our last couple of nights. We had a room that could be adjoining i.e. a door between the two and the neighbours were very noisy into the early hours. To be fair we didnt complain and I am sure the hotel management would have addressed it had we done so.
ENTERTAINMENT: There was evening entertainment nearly every day. I do agree with previous reviewers it could get a bit quiet on other nights but we were happy with the arcade or just having a game of cards on the terrace when it was quieter. The best entertainment was the daily water polo match in the main pool! Our boys took part but it was as fun to watch all the different nationalities play a competitive match with some taking it very seriously!
VALUE: I have to say this was one of the best value for money holidays we have had. Not cheap, but given what is included we felt it really was great value for money.
AREA: I am someone who cant sit around the pool all day (the rest of the family would quite happily never have left the hotel) and this is where there is limitations. There are a handful of small buildings on the beach front across from the hotel. The Dolphin Taverna was a lovely little local place and was a change of pace from Fodele. Went there once and food and drink cheap and excellent with very friendly service. Couple of other little shops and restaurants there too. There is another beach across the peninsula with a beach bar but very few sunbeds. The village of Fodele was 2.5k away is a small traditional village and worth a visit. But anything else you will need a car to get to. Dont forget there is a daily coach (included) to take guests to Heraklion and back from Fodele too - an excellent addition.
I have written a lot here and I hope it is helpful for people reading it who may have read negative reviews or just why we gave this one such a high rating. If you like All Inclusive which is good service, good value and self sufficient area then I recommend this place for sure!

all good except something got stolen from my room!
everything was good except how I was treated at the reception .
I told the stuff that there is something missing from my room and they ignored it.
I got a gift from my grandma who is not with me any longer and it was important to me.
I got an impression at the front desk that the lady working there was laughing a bit.
I was told that someone will contact me about missing gift and that hotel will order exact same thing and ship it for me. I got nothing not even "I'm sorry"
