Lovely Historical Hotel
Pleasant Historical hotel in Georgetown. We stayed twice, before and post trip.
The rooms are situated around a singular courtyard, which acts as outside dining area, bar and lounge. As a result of this we did encounter noise on our first night from people at the bar as it echoes around the area. It is partially covered but has open areas at the top, hence when It rained heavily one day both the bar and dining were closed as they became very wet – there is indoor dining as well. There is also constant noise from the bugs during the night, you do after a while manage to live with it but if you are a light sleeper perhaps bring ear plugs.
The rooms were decent and clean, but on our first visit our shower water was only luke warm. Breakfast was buffet plus served to order, there was adequate choice including local dishes which we enjoyed. Evening meals were a bit hit and miss, our first one Guyanan Curry was lovely, so we ordered it again on our last night, but it wasn’t as nice. I think it depends on who is cooking!
Reception on the whole were helpful but we did encounter one rude young man. They kindly stored our excess luggage whilst we were away on our trip.
There is a safe in the room and bottled water is provided.
You can pay in either local or US dollars and credit cards are taken here. Drinks were reasonably priced with 5 & 8 year old rum around 5US $, increasing for older vintages. They also offer a rum tasting which is in the bar area and can be purchased there, should you wish to try some of the more expensive rums.
Overall a very pleasant stay and we would happily return.

Pleasant, characterful hotel but a few staff lack customer care
We stayed here three nights before, and one night after, a trip to the Interior.
The hotel consists of a characterful wooden building with a pleasant courtyard and bar area and indoor & outdoor seating around reception. Each room (different on each visit) was spacious, clean and tidy, had a huge comfortable bed with lovely bedding, a fridge and a big safe. However on the first visit, there was a problem needing the safe batteries replacing; although this was rectified quickly, we felt it should have been checked prior to our arrival. Air conditioning was good. Most of the showers we took in the first room were very cool or luke warm, at best. We reported this and were told it would be looked into, but nothing happened. Temperature was good in the second room.
The bar man and some reception staff lacked a customer service ethos, not making eye contact and finishing off their own priorities before dealing with us. However others including all the breakfast staff and some reception ones, were completely different and very friendly and helpful. it's a shame that some staff let the others down.
Breakfast was of a good standard with a variety of choices from the buffet and a menu, and the evening meals were better than the bar snacks.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here and feel it's a good choice if you want a Georgetown hotel of reasonably good standard but with a traditional feel.

The bar was well stocked unfortunately a second blender is needed. Drinks ordered our first nigh could not be provided because tofu a blender issue. We were provided a complimentary drink because of the issue.

Staff was surly and very very slow and unfriendly, They would chat with each other while a guest stood there waiting to order at the bar, and were insulted if you asked for a drink. Air conditioning old and didn't work well. No elevator,
