Super recommended! A different experience!
The domes are located in the middle of a forest with access to the lake. You can stay beaching all day as it is a very quiet beach. You can have a simple lunch right there (pizza, sandwich and chips) or go to the center which is 3.5 km away. The domes are equipped with just and necessary. The setting is divine. The dome where breakfast is very cozy. We went with 13 and 12 year olds and they loved the experience. I recommend!!

The Cool way to "Dome" be aware of safety concerns
A quality lodge on lake Villarica with some 6 domes made of one and two story units. The lodge is located a very short distance from the town center but unless you really like walking, you will need transport. Do not rely on public transport as its slow and not very common. The center is very easy to get to however. A complementarly wood fired hot tub awaits those who book ONE day in advance. A nice experience for those who like tubbing.
We traveled with two children age 10 & 8. The dome we rented was for four people, comfortable but with a few design flaws that need to be address if they wish to have families with Children. we stayed in the DOME "Lonquimay" very few plug sockets and all but one with only one plug. Not really hidden closet space for the bags, The refreqridator was nice but with only three cups, no utensils, no bottle opener, and buzzed most of the night. The second floor was well heated but with a MAJOR security issue (see picture) that could cause a child or an adult to fall to the 1st floor.
The dome itself was not the cleanest with handprints on the walls. We had a maintenance issue which was sorted quite quickly however the maintenance man tracked mud from the front door across the dome and into the bathroom walking on our towels. When we asked for him to clean it the reply was "I do maintenance, I don't clean" . . . The private balcony has a nice barbecue area . It would be even nicer if they would provide items to prepare a BBQ in each dome. The bathrooms are small (but what do you expect if your staying in dome) We had to run a small space heater 24/7 to keep the bathroom free from dripping H2O from the ceiling. We stayed only three nights but when leaving, we all felt a grungy like we'd been camping rather than staying in hotel / lodge
The play area for the children has a number of different activities ranging from climbing to balancing on trees and tubes made from trees.
The beach is actually volcanic rock, thus if you plan to take a stroll on the beach bring some kind of footwear
Breakfast was great and the lady who prepares it is charming and makes great scrambled eggs and pan amanasado bread.
All in all, a great place for kids and I would consider going back as los as the safety issues are address.

A Unique Lodging Experience
We traveled through Chile for two weeks starting at Valapariso down to Patagonia, so we stayed in many accommodations. Magma Lodge was one of our favorites. Staying in the dome was a unique experience and I highly recommend giving it a try. We were there in late November and the dome got very warm in the daytime when the sun streamed through the top and colder in the evening. It did have a heating unit, but we did not need to use it.
There is electricity and a bathroom with a shower. The room has a small refrigerator, which came in very handy, and a nice deck with a picnic table. The bed was comfortable and the lodge at the time was quiet. In fact, I think we might have been the only people there during the mid-week.
The place is right on the beach and perfect to watch the sunset. Pucon is about three minutes away by car and I probably would not try to walk there as there is no real pathway or sidewalk. WiFi does not work inside the dome, but only near the administration building and spotty at that. As an international traveler, it was disappointing that the WiFi was not better.
We also had a hot tub session (after climbing the volcano) and it was wonderful. Highly recommend booking a session.
The staff does not speak English, but they provided us with a lovely breakfast and were friendly and welcoming. It is a charming property and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The best place we stayed on our trip!
This lodge was so unique and we loved it. The people were very accommodating & friendly. The food was excellent and room very clean, not to mention the beach and scenery was awesome! We had a car so the proximity to town was great. My son called it UFO Camp. We would definitely stay there again.
