Very good
By booking through the hostel's website, you pay less and still get a shirt (if you book at least 3 times a day). You have to request at the reception.
It has an equipped kitchen, good locker.
There are few bathrooms, but I never had problems with occupation.

Nice communal lounge/kitchen area, with free cereal, toast and hot drinks.
Rooms are big, with keys to lockers given at check in as well as a key card.
Plug sockets are not in a good location in the room, as the items I had, had short leads, so could not charge my items.
Showers located close to the rooms with hairdryers.
There is a lift to get to various floors of the hostel.
Quite pricey, but Zurich is quite pricey.

Old Town Hostel Otter- Zurich
Before I had read some reviews that say the hostel was dirty or loud- this is not true!!! It is not modern, but everything is clean and the toilets and showers are clean and there’s enough space.
Maybe there could have been more activities but I still met many nice travellers here- they have info about pub crawls and walking tours, city maps which is helpful.
Yes, it is not cheap but no where in Switzerland is cheap, don’t come to Zurich and expect it to be cheap!
It was quite hot when I stayed and the room had a nice fan which was perfect.
Definitely stay here if you need a hostel in Zurich!
They let you check in late at night if you tell them before

Avoid this place at all costs!!
- I would not recommend this property to female travellers. There were major safety issues whilst I was at this property that made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. I was told by management to “grow up and deal with it”
- I cancelled a night of accomodation at this property due to my personal safety concerns and no refund or compensation was given. I left the property with the manager yelling and screaming at me. Very unprofessional and rude on their behalf.
- many of the powerpoints and outlets do not work and therefore I was unable to charge any of my devices
- insufficient storage facilities within the room. Although there are lockers in the common rooms there needs to be storage provided within the room.
- Rooms are very hot and damp.
- there was blood on my pillow and sheets upon arrival which is not hygienic and unprofessional
- 4 bedroom female dorm is very very very small and there is no room to move around and store baggage.
- showers do not work and a lot of the doors do not lock
- for the additional money the breakfast is not worth it. Unless you want a small section of meat and cheeses and hard boiled eggs this is not worth the additional money.
Overall this property made me feel very unsafe and therefore I would not be recommending this property to anyone in the future. Avoid this property at all cost!!
